Drowning
Um flytjanda
Formed in 2003 in Cardiff, Wales, The Drowning has spent the last twenty years refining a sound that brings together darkness, melody, and heaviness. Their music explores themes of sorrow, and emptiness, creating a huge sound that combines the melodic depth of doom with the intensity and aggression of death metal, a unique mix best described as Dark Metal. The Drowning sound is the remaining legacy of the late Mike Hitchen, who passed away tragically in November of 2024. Mike’s distinctive song writing, and iconic guitar playing has carved a significant mark on the European Death Doom scene. After their highly acclaimed 2019 album, The Radiant Dark, and with album number 6 on the way via Transcending Obscurity Records, the band are now choosing to continue on as a four piece so they can continue to spread Mike's influence.
