  Lagwagon

  One of the essential bands of the '90s SoCal punk era, Lagwagon formed in Goleta, CA in 1990. Originally called Section 8, by the time of their 1992 debut, DUH, Lagwagon was comprised of singer Joey Cape, guitarists Chris Flippin and Shawn Dewey, bassist Jesse Buglione and drummer Derrick Plourde. TRASHED followed two years later, and in 1995 they released HOSS. Plourde left the band shortly after that and was replaced by ex-Rich Kids on LSD drummer Dave Raun. Former Posies guitarist Ken Stringfellow replaced Dewey for Lagwagon's next effort, 1997's DOUBLE PLAIDINUM; he soon departed as well, and another Rich Kids alum, guitarist Chris Rest, was on board for 1998's LET'S TALK ABOUT FEELINGS. It took five years to record 2003's BLAZE - LET'S TALK ABOUT LEFTOVERS, a compilation of B-sides, outtakes, and songs both old and new appeared in 2000, but it found the group as reliable as ever, touting anthems both political and personal. Cape then issued a split acoustic album, aptly titled ACOUSTIC, with No Use for a Name's Tony Sly in 2004. Both LIVE IN A DIVE and RESOLVE were released in 2005. The latter album was dedicated to drummer Plourde, who had committed suicide earlier in the year. After a two-year break, the band dropped I THINK MY OLDER BROTHER USED TO LISTEN TO LAGWAGON, which marked their tenth release on Fat Wreck Chords. HANG, Lagwagon's eighth full-length and first in nine years, arrived in the Fall of 2014 and the band's ninth album, RAILER, dropped in 2019.

• Good Riddance

  Good Riddance is a hardcore punk band from Santa Cruz, California which was formed in the early 1990s. The band grew out of California’s vibrant surfing and skateboarding culture and was influenced by such bands as Black Flag, The Adolescents, TSOL and Bad Religion as well as East Coast bands like Sick Of It All and the Cro Mags.

  The group’s early years were spent going through line up changes, playing local and regional shows and recording demos as they developed their sound. Early tours and a 7” record release on Little Deputy Records in 1993 (“Gidget”) brought the band widespread interest and overwhelmingly positive reviews.

  In 1994 the band caught the interest of Fat Wreck Chords who released the “Decoy” 7″ later that year while the band hit the studio with producer Ryan Greene to record their first full length album “For God And Country” which was released in early 1995.

  Over the next decade Good Riddance went on to release seven full length albums and an EP for Fat while crisscrossing the globe dozens of times on tour. The band developed a dedicated and passionate fan base through their constant touring and politically charged music. Good Riddance began donating a portion of their record sales to various organizations and doing whatever they could to raise awareness about the causes they felt strongly about.

  In May 2007 Good Riddance played their final show, fittingly in their hometown of Santa Cruz. The members then went their separate ways to raise families and pursue careers. Though there have been numerous offers to reform and play in the five years since, the band has turned them all down.

  Aus dem einstigen Traum von fünf Schülern aus dem nordrhein-westfälischen Rheinberg ist mittlerweile eine verschworene Gemeinschaft geworden, eine Gemeinschaft die bereit ist den nächsten Schritt zu gehen. Nach dem Einstieg in die Top 10 der deutschen Charts gingen die fünf ihren Weg immer weiter und begeistern mittlerweile in großen Hallen immer mehr Fans ihrer Musik. Mit dem neuen Werk »Revolution« geht man in ein neues Kapitel der Bandgeschichte. Gefestigt und mit klarer Vorstellung, wohin der Weg sie führt! Die perfekte Mischung aus Punkrock und Metal, die es in Deutschland nur in dieser einzigartigen Form gibt.

  Was wie ein Übernacht-Erfolg klingt, ist allerdings das Ergebnis harter Arbeit, und vor allem der Glaube an die Möglichkeit, mit eigenständiger Musik und kritischen Texten ein, nein, besser SEIN eigenes Publikum zu erreichen. „Am Anfang mussten wir selbst noch viel lernen“, gibt Vohwinkel zu. Warum sollte es auch anders sein? Wenn fünf Freunde eine Band gründen wollen, ohne irgendwelche Instrumente zu beherrschen, bietet sich nur eine Musikrichtung an: Punkrock.

  Wer sich in dieser aufregenden Zeit um 1990 herum zum Ziel setzt, eine Band zu gründen, hat nicht nur Vorteile. Auch wenn es fast 20 Jahre dauert, bis BETONTOD aus ihrer Leidenschaft eine Profession gemacht haben – das Ergebnis spricht für sich. Wer in Eigenregie über 1000 Konzerte organisiert, 7 Studio- und 3 Live-Alben veröffentlicht hat, der macht viel richtig. Wer als Punkband zweimal auf dem größten Metal-Festival der Welt in Wacken gespielt hat, der hat genug Selbstbewusstsein, um den Nachfolger eines Top 10-Albums anzugehen und den nächsten Schritt zu machen. „Wir haben uns auf das besonnen was uns ausmacht“, erklärt Vohwinkel die neue Marschrichtung, „ehrliche gerade Musik.“ Beim letzten Album »Traum von Freiheit«, das im Februar 2015 erschienen ist, gibt es mit Vincent Sorg (DIE TOTEN HOSEN, IN EXTREMO, DONOTS u.a.) und Fabian Zimmermann die altbekannten Produzenten. Und diese vertraute Umgebung ließ »Revolution« zum reifsten Album der Rheinberger werden.
