L'AUTRE CANAL ET METAL RIDE PRÉSENTENT : SOEN TRIBULATION Un groupe qui n'a jamais aussi bien maîtrisé son art... voici en quels termes le magazine Rock Hard présentait « Reliance », le nouvel opus de SOEN, sorti en janvier 2026. Avec ce septième album studio, ce groupe suédois continue donc son incroyable voyage entre lumière et obscurité, vacarme et calme, bouleversement et apaisement. Dans leur progression fluide à travers un terrain émotionnel profondément humain, Joel Ekelöf (chant) et Martin Lopez (batterie), deux experts du prog-metal, poursuivent leur exploration de l'esprit, du cœur et de l'âme des hommes, avec une approche visionnaire, agrémentée d'une touche encore plus heavy. Flanqués de Lars Enok Åhlund (claviers et guitare), Cody Lee Ford (guitare) et du revenant Stefan Stenberg à la basse, ils poussent l'évolution artistique luxuriante de SOEN encore plus loin, avec un son qui prend des allures d'envol. Sur disque comme sur scène les passages heavy tranchent avec de magnifiques mélodies, le tout ponctué parfois de rugissements provocateurs et puissants. SOEN emerged from the shadows of Sweden’s progressive metal scene, not with a whisper but with an uncompromising clarity and resolve. Born from the vision of drummer Martin Lopez, previously known for his tenure with the iconic Opeth, and the introspective voice of vocalist Joel Ekelöf, SOEN swiftly carved out a unique identity, their debut album Cognitive (2012) immediately establishing them as a formidable presence.
Their sound is complex yet deeply human, woven together by intricate rhythms, nuanced melodies, and a lyrical depth that demands introspection. The band’s lineup soon solidified, anchored by the versatile multi-instrumentalist Lars Enok Åhlund, guitarist Cody Lee Ford, and the steadfast rhythms of bassist Stefan Stenberg. Over the years, former members such as guitarist Kim Platbarzdis, guitarist Marcus Jidell, and bassist Zlatoyar have also left indelible marks, contributing significantly to the band’s sound and evolution.
