Alice CooperIn 1975, Alice Cooper joined forces with longtime collaborator and producer Bob Ezrin to record his first solo album Welcome to My Nightmare, a theatrical concept album about the nightmares of a young boy named Steven. Now, he’s followed Steven into adulthood and presents Welcome 2 My Nightmare, a new but familiar concept album about the fear, anxiety and disgust that haunt Alice Cooper’s dreams in an era of Facebook, Lady Gaga, Sketchers and Angry Birds.
“Alice hates technology, disco is still a nightmare for him and working in a cubicle from nine-to-five would give him cold sweats,” Cooper says. “At the same time, this is a nightmare so all these normal life things are thrown into this crazy world that’s only logical when you’re in the nightmare. You could have an elephant in your garage, and you’re on the lawn in a pink tutu cooking hot dogs. And at the time it’s fine. But when you wake up you go, ‘How insane is that? Where did that come from?’ So we realized that having Alice in a modern-world nightmare is a great place to come from theatrically because we can go anywhere we want and make it as insane as possible.”
A wild, surreal odyssey, Welcome 2 My Nightmare provided Cooper and Ezrin the opportunity to work with numerous musicians and experiment with various musical styles. The three surviving members of the original band, guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith, co-wrote three songs and they all played on “When Hell Comes Home,” a gritty ‘70s-style rock track about the nightmare of domestic abuse. “I wanted the song to feel like it was off of Love it to Death or Killer, Cooper says. “But we never had to talk about playing the song ‘70s-style, they just did it. It was great and there was nothing we could do to make it any more ‘70s ‘cause that’s just the way these guys play.”
The collaborations with his fellow original band members stemmed from their 2010 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for which they reunited to play four songs. “I was always looking for a logical reason to work with them again,” Cooper says. “When we broke up there was no bad blood. Most bands break up and they start suing each other. We never broke up on that level. We broke up on a very friendly level. ‘You go do what you’re gonna do, I’m gonna do what I’m gonna do. Let’s see what happens.’ When we got in the Hall of Fame I called them up and I said, ‘We have to do four songs. Let’s get together and rehearse.’ And they sounded great. They played great. We did a few projects after that. We played a couple times together. And I said, ‘Let’s keep it going. Let’s get these guys on the album.’ And Bob said, ‘That’s a great idea. Let’s write with these guys.’ It just worked.”
The first single from Welcome 2 My Nightmare, “I’ll Bite Your Face Off,” is about a gorgeous but deadly female who takes Alice by the hand and guides him through the various scenes of his nightmare. The song was co-written by Neal Smith and features a swaggering ‘60s British rock rhythm, brash, bluesy guitars and sneering, seductive vocals. “We tried to make this sound as much like early Rolling Stones as possible and we really did capture that,” Cooper says. “We’ve been doing it onstage and the audience sings along without knowing the song.”
On “Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever,” Cooper combines a tongue-in-cheek disco beat and rhythm with near-rap vocals and lyrics about taking a machine gun to zombie disco dancers who refuse to die. Then there’s the zany surf rock of “Ghoul’s Gone Wild,” the derelict down-on-his-luck slur of “The Last Man on Earth,” and the Beatles meet Gary Glitter show tune “The Congregation,” which stars Rob Zombie as a narrator describing such modern-day nightmares as telemarketers, lawyers, pimps, mariachi bands and mimes.
One of the highlights for Cooper is the throbbing, modern rocker “What Baby Wants,” which stars Ke$ha as the devil. “Some people thought I was crazy to have Ke$ha on the record, but I never saw her as one of these Britney Spears diva girls. I saw her more as a rock singer. So I said, ‘Let’s present you not as a diva, but as a rock singer on this.’ We wrote the song together and in the end the darker lyrics were hers.”
Like The original Welcome To My Nightmare, which was highlighted by “Only Women Bleed,” Welcome 2 My Nightmare also features a lovelorn ballad, “Something to Remember Me By,” which was written with Dick Wagner back when they released “I Never Cry” in 1976. “We never used it on an album before because I never felt I was good enough to sing that song,” Cooper reflects. “It was never in my key, I could never get it right. Finally, we got it where my voice is in the right place so we included it and it may be the prettiest ballad we ever wrote. Steve Hunter played guitar on it and we really got a nice Beatles-y sound out of it. So when you’re listening to it you hear this really pretty romantic song and then you realize that in the Nightmare Alice is singing to a pile of bones that used to be a girl.”
Fans of the first Welcome To My Nightmare will recognize melodic references to the original woven throughout the new record. For example, in the cinematic minor-key song “The Nightmare Returns,” Ezrin plays the theme from “Steven” when Cooper sings, “I think we’ve heard that song before.”
“I really like the idea of having some of the musical identity of the first album showing up in the second album,” Cooper says. “It really connects the two and if you’re a real Alice fan and you hear those themes it makes you feel comfortable.”
Welcome To My Nightmare, which came out in 1975, was a landmark album for Cooper. It was his first solo release, following a historic string of anthems written and recorded by the original band between 1971 and 1974, including “School’s Out,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Elected,” and “I’m Eighteen.” A multimedia smash long before the dawn of music television, Welcome To My Nightmare proved that Cooper could remain popular musically and could take theatricality to an entirely new level of dream by exposing audiences to the crippling fears of a seven-year-old child with an active imagination.
Welcome To My Nightmare spawned two major singles, the ominous, anthemic title track and the beautiful, melancholy acoustic ballad “Only Women Bleed,” and featured narration by horror movie icon Vincent Price. In addition to touring the live “Welcome To My Nightmare” show, Cooper created the prime time special The Nightmare, which was essentially the first long form music video. The program debuted in April 1975. In September he shot the concert film “Welcome To My Nightmare” at London’s Wembley Arena.
“A seven-year-old kid is pretty sure there’s something living in the closet and thinks that something is waiting for him under his bed,” Cooper says. “His toys are probably coming to life and trying to kill him. And I thought, ‘Well, that’s a good general approach for the album because we’ve all been kids and we’ve all had those nightmares.’”
From his first solo album, 1975's Welcome to My Nightmare through releases such as 1994's The Last Temptation and 2000's Brutal Planet, concept albums have been a specialty of Alice's, and this time he spins the story of a serial killer who imagines himself as the most predatory of all insects, trapping his prey, killing them, then enveloping his eight victims in silk, taking a leg from each of them. A web of intrigue, wrapped around some serious hard rock.
Co-produced by Alice with the team of Danny Saber [Black Grape, Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie] and Greg Hampton [Bootsy Collins, Buckethead], songs like the opening "I Know Where You Live" and "Vengeance Is Mine," featuring a snaking metal guitar solo from Slash himself, evoke such classic Alice anthems as "Is it My Body," and "Under My Wheels" along with landmark albums like Love It To Death, Killer and School's Out. There's also a patented rock ballad in the tradition of "Only Women Bleed" and "I Never Cry" with "Killed by Love." Along Came a Spider features Cooper's touring band of drummer Eric Singer, bassist Chuck Garric and guitarists Keri Kelli and Jason Hook. Songwriting was handled by Alice with Saber, Hampton, Garric, Kelli and a few friends including former band member Damon Johnson and Warrant's Jani Lane.
Along Came a Spider has elements of serial killers such as Hannibal Lecter, Son of Sam, Ted Bundy, Jack the Ripper, Sweeney Todd and Psycho's Norman Bates with Alice himself taking the central part, acting out the murderer's diary -- challenging reality by Alice Cooper inhabiting the identity of a serial killer who imagines himself a spider. As he has in the past, Alice chronicles a classic battle between good and evil, with inevitable results.
"Evil should get punished," says Alice. "It should never win. And that, to me, is what's most satisfying. I may love Darth Vader when I watch Star Wars, but I feel relief when he finally gets what's coming to him."

Paradise LostMore than three decades into their career, and with over two million albums sold, Paradise Lost remain the undisputed kings of metal’s dark side. Formed in Halifax in 1988, the band quickly became noted as the pioneers of gothic metal through their early groundbreaking albums like 1991’s aptly-titled ‘Gothic’, a mixture of heaviness intertwined with shadowy melody and atmosphere.
Never a group to remain creatively static, across their career they’ve explored a myriad of avenues of dark music, from sludgy doom-death roots, to conquering the metal mainstream with the enormous, lush sounds of 1995’s ‘Draconian Times’, to more experimental, electronic leanings, leaving an influence on a trail of artists.
Now, in 2025, the Yorkshire quintet return with their staggering 17th album, ‘Ascension’, a record that sees their crown continue to gleam as it underlines just how they attained their position. The albums 10 tracks traverse the multitude of sounds in the band’s arsenal, from full-bore heavy metal to sky-high melody, all the while keeping a minor-key melancholy that remains irresistible.
The NEW album ”Ascension”, is out September 19th, via Nuclear Blast Records, Pre-Order and Pre-Save: paradiselost.bfan.link/ascension

Danko JonesFormed in Toronto in 1996, Danko Jones have seen and done just about everything over the last quarter of a century. Powered by a DIY punk rock spirit, and inspired by the good, great and grotesque of electrified rock ‘n’ roll, they have steadily built a colossal international fan base and become one of the most acclaimed live bands around, embraced by everyone from mainstream radio-rock fans to diehard metalheads. Along the way, they have released ten widely praised studio albums, generating a peerless repertoire of fists-in-the-air crowd-pleasers into the bargain. From the spiky blues of 2002’s Born A Lion and the crazed power-pop of its follow-up We Sweat Blood (2003), to the priapic perfection of 2010’s Below The Belt, the band’s knack for hitting rock’s sweet spot has never wavered.
Over the last decade, Danko Jones have visibly moved up a few gears. Since frontman Danko and bassist JC joined forced with drummer Rich Knox, the band’s creative fire has blazed more brightly than ever. A succession of all-killer, no-filler albums – Fire Music, Wild Cat, A Rock Supreme, Power Trio – has led to even more gung-ho touring and unapologetic service to the rock cause. In 2023, Toronto’s archbishops of amplification release their 11th album, Electric Sounds: proof that even a global pandemic couldn’t stop Danko Jones. In fact, it just made them even more unstoppable.

Soen
SOEN emerged from the shadows of Sweden’s progressive metal scene, not with a whisper but with an uncompromising clarity and resolve. Born from the vision of drummer Martin Lopez, previously known for his tenure with the iconic Opeth, and the introspective voice of vocalist Joel Ekelöf, SOEN swiftly carved out a unique identity, their debut album Cognitive (2012) immediately establishing them as a formidable presence.
Their sound is complex yet deeply human, woven together by intricate rhythms, nuanced melodies, and a lyrical depth that demands introspection. The band’s lineup soon solidified, anchored by the versatile multi-instrumentalist Lars Enok Åhlund, guitarist Cody Lee Ford, and the steadfast rhythms of bassist Stefan Stenberg. Over the years, former members such as guitarist Kim Platbarzdis, guitarist Marcus Jidell, and bassist Zlatoyar have also left indelible marks, contributing significantly to the band’s sound and evolution.

FinntrollFinntroll combines black metal and Finnish polka, called Humppa. Although they are from Finland, Finntroll's lyrics are in Swedish (the country's second official language), because Swedish sounds "damn trollish", according to the band's first vocalist, Katla (whose native language is Swedish). History Finntroll was founded in 1997, by Teemu "Somnium" Raimoranta (R.I.P. March 16th 2003), guitarist of Impaled Nazarene, and Jan "Katla" Jämsen. Their first demo, Rivfader, was recorded about a year later, in 1998. After the demo recording, the other members of the band, Samu Ruotsalainen (from Barathrum, Shape of Despair and Rapture), Samuli Ponsimaa, Henri Sorvali (from Moonsorrow) and Sami Uusitalo joined the band. The record label Spinefarm got interested in the band then, and made a contract, yielding the album Midnattens Widunder (English: The Beast of Midnight) (1999) as a result. The next step for Finntroll was the album Jaktens Tid (English: The time of the Hunt), which was released in 2001. This album managed to climb to rank 20 of the Finnish album charts, exceeding expectation of band and publisher alike. The following wave of popularity attracted the attention of Century Media, which began promoting Finntroll for the rest of the world. The following summer, the band had their first time playing on open air festivals in Finland and other countries. The year after the release of the album Jaktens Tid proved to be a misfortune for Finntroll: some tours had to be cancelled, and in the aftermath of his problems, vocalist Jämsen had to retire from the band due to a viral-based tumor in his vocal cords which could not be removed surgically; he retired after the release of the album Visor om Slutet (English: Songs about the End). Said album was recorded in early January 2003, in a forest cabin near Helsinki. It was an "acoustical experiment", where Jämsen and the new vocalist Tapio Wilska (of Sethian and Lyijykomppania) shared the singing duties among them. The album was released as a mid-price album and held rank one of the Finnish midprice chart for several weeks. Shortly before the release of Visor om Slutet, Raimoranta died by falling off a bridge in Helsinki after having consumed too much alcohol, according to the official story. Two people who were with him that night revealed in an interview that he had jumped off the bridge, thus committing suicide.[citation needed] Finntroll didn't dissolve after losing one of their founding members, but decided to go on, touring for two weeks in Europe, supported by the group Katatonia. The guitarist Mikael Karlbom was hired as a replacement for Raimoranta. In 2004, the band released an EP, Trollhammaren (English: The Troll Hammer), and an album called Nattfödd (English: Nightborn). In 2005, as Henri "Trollhorn" Sorvali found himself too busy with his other band, "Moonsorrow", he decided to put touring with Finntroll on hold. He is still working with the band, composing etc. For tours, Finntroll decided to find a stand-in keyboard player. Since 2005, Aleksi Virta (Other bands/affiliations: Imperanon) has been touring with the 'trolls. In January 29th of 2006, Tapio Wilska, vocalist of the band since 2003, was fired from the band. In a statement issued on the band's website, Wilska states that he would like to keep the reason for his dismissal private. The latest Finntroll's album, "Ur Jordens Djup" was released on March 30th 2007 with a new vocalist : Vreth. The new album takes a more black-metal approach than the previous albums, heading back to the days of "Midnattens Widunder".

DoroDORO PESCH - the phenomenal career of the Metal Queen
Doro Pesch already knew at the age of three that she wanted to be a singer. The initial spark was "Lucille" by Little Richard, which ignited a fire in Doro that still burns to this day. Doro wants to conquer the world with music and make people happy. At 16 she has her first band Snakebite. Beast and Attack follow and the big breakthrough with Warlock. The debut album "Burning The Witches" was released in 1983 and immediately won the hearts of metal fans worldwide. A major label immediately became aware of the band and Warlock switched from Mausoleum Records to Phonogram (today Universal). After the second record "Hellbound" the first successful European tours followed. In the course of the third album "True As Steel", Doro is the first front woman at the legendary "Monsters Of Rock" festival in 1986 in Castle Donington, England, and is frenetically celebrated. The first mega tour with Judas Priest in Europe and W.A.S.P. in England followed. "True As Steel" was also the band"s first worldwide release, including the USA. Since it has always been Doro"s great desire to conquer the USA, she goes on a promotional tour there. After two days, Doro falls in love with New York City and stays in America.
She works on her most successful album up to that point in time, "Triumph And Agony", with immortal hits such as "All We Are" and "Für Immer". The impressive video clips are shot by famous directors: "All We Are" is filmed in the L.A. River Basin, where well-known scenes from "Terminator 2" were also filmed, "Für Immer" is impressively staged in the swamps of Louisiana. The videos caused a sensation internationally and are shown on MTV on heavy rotation in the USA, where Doro also appears as a host on several occasions. In addition, "Triumph And Agony" is supported by a US tour with Megadeth and a European tour with Ronnie James Dio and achieves gold status. The follow-up "Force Majeure", released under the name Doro, is also immediately certified gold. The accompanying singles "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" and "Hard Times" are again being implemented in L.A. by great film and video directors.
After that, another dream comes true for Doro as a big Kiss fan. The album "Doro" is produced by none other than Gene Simmons in New York and L.A.
Further productions with famous producers in Nashville, New York and New Jersey followed with "True At Heart", "Angels Never Die" and "Machine II Machine" and the first live album "Doro Live".
Then it"s back to New York, where Doro works for three years on one of her favorite albums - "Love Me In Black". The title track turns out to be another classic in Doro"s repertoire.
The following production "Calling The Wild" features Doro"s first duet with another icon, Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead. The friendship between the two grows so much that they tour together, perform at many festivals together, celebrate various anniversaries together and record more great duets over the years. The last one is the heartbreaking "It Still Hurts" on Doro"s album "Raise Your Fist". Doro also releases an elaborate work with the "Classic Night Orchestra" entitled "Classic Diamonds" and also plays an opulent headliner show at the Wacken Open Air, where she has been a guest about twenty times to date, including many headlining shows.
After many more album and DVD/Blu-ray releases, soundtracks for film productions and the again very successful double album "Forever Warriors - Forever United", Doro starts her very successful own label Rare Diamonds Productions. Her releases include the German-language work "Für Immer", the triple album "Magic Diamonds", the cinema film and soundtrack "Anuk – The Path Of The Warrior" and the recent "Triumph And Agony Live".
In 2022, Doro was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, having already received an Echo, the Metal Goddess Legend Award in Las Vegas, the Legend Award in England and Germany, the Angel Of Rock Award in England and awards as the sexiest woman alive, among others. She has also been voted Best Female Vocalist in Spain for 30 years and was inducted into the Hall Of Heavy Metal History in the United States.
Doro has given over 3,000 concerts in more than 60 countries.
She is currently working on a new album with many anthems and next year will celebrate her 40th stage anniversary at the world"s biggest festivals.
At the end of the festivities, Doro will play another unforgettable concert for her fans in her old hometown in Düsseldorf, where it all started, on October 28, 2023 in the Mitsubishi Electric Halle with many friends and companions.
2023 will be a very special year for the Queen Of Metal - Doro Pesch!

Harakiri for the Sky
Despair, loss, love, and existential struggles have always been the foundation of HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY’s distinctive sound. Since their formation in 2011, multi-instrumentalist M.S. and vocalist J.J. have gained recognition for pushing musical boundaries with their emotionally charged blend of atmospheric extreme metal and melodic post-rock, grunge and modern hardcore. Taking four years to craft the follow-up to 2021’s "Maere" (which peaked at #4 on the official German charts), HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY will now release their new tour-de-force, "Scorched Earth" through AOP Records.
"‘Scorched Earth’ came together after years of experimenting with untypical sounds, yet on the other hand trying to stay true to our original post black metal style. It still seemed like one crisis followed another. Our society is divided to its core and peace seems further away than ever in the last decades. This is what inspired the title of the new album: “Scorched Earth” is a snapshot of the world we are living, a world that’s tragically broken.”
HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY have headlined tours across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia, earning a reputation as one of the most intense live acts in modern metal. Additionally, they've garnered 5 nominations for Austria’s prestigious Amadeus Music Award. Now, the band is ready to return to the stage, kicking off a North American tour with Swallow The Sun in February to unveil "Scorched Earth" to the world.

Knorkator
Knorkator is a German band from Berlin-Köpenick that combines Industrial Metal with non-serious and comical elements. They proclaim themselves to be "Germany's most band in the world" (German: "Deutschlands meiste Band der Welt"), as the title "The best band in the world" was already taken by Die Ärzte. The band was founded in 1994, but only played live gigs in the Berlin / Brandenburg area until 1998.
Knorkator gained further fame (and some notoriety) in 2000 with their performance of Ick wer zun Schwein (sic; literally - berlin dialect "I'm turning into a pig") in the German national qualification for the Eurovision song contest. Knorkator's wild stage shows and explicit lyrics, as well as the fact that nearly half of the vocalist's body is tattooed black, have earned them a reputation as a chaotic comedy band; however, the band's music actually shows considerable technical and artistic merit that is sometimes overlooked.
Most of Knorkator's lyrics are in German; however, some songs also feature English (Beating around the bush, Ma Baker etc.), Thai (Mai khao djai, Khid tyng baan), Latin (Aeger sum, Absolution) or French (Ma belle fêmme, Franz Hose) lyrics.
Discography:
* A, 1995 (EP)
* The Schlechtst of Knorkator, 1998
* Hasenchartbreaker, 1999
* Tribute to uns selbst, 2000
* Ich hasse Musik, 2003
* Zu alt, 2005 (DVD+CD)
* Das nächste Album aller Zeiten, 2007

GothministerEst.1999. Since the release of his debut ‘Gothic Electronic Anthems’ in 2003, Gothminister Bjørn Alexander Brem has captured the listeners with his hymns of pitch-black magic. Dark shudders, deep lead vocals and thrilling craft of composing within the marrow of Gothic, Industrial-Metal and Electro have become his trademarks ever since. Driving sequences lead into compelling verses which are soon countered by harsh metalriffs. Finally the listener gets subdued by an overwhelming combination of catchiness, denseness and heavenly choirs.” (Myk Jung) His 2 new albums «Pandemonium I+II» mixed by Henning Verlage (Unheilig, Eisbrecher), are long awaited powerhouses which exceeds the even highest expectations. Powerful, heavily downtuned metal riffs march relentlessly arm in arm with huge orchestras and heavenly choirs. The Master himself reveals an astonishing range of vocal-art: from the deepest Gothic dungeons up to the higher spheres of steaming Rock. The title track of the new album, "Pandemonium", takes us back to the new gothic era around 1880 AC, where we find the city and kingdom of Gothminister under attack from its own inhabitants. The old, mighty and evil king, played by Gothminister himself, faces chaos and uproar among his own. But be careful what you wish for. «He who fights monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will gaze into the.» (Friedrich Nietzche) The king is dead. Long live the king!

Subway To SallySchandmaul is a German rock/folk band. The band specializes in a genre of music often known as "Medieval-Folk Rock", as they often include instruments typically used in Medieval folk songs such as the bagpipes and shawms as parts of their rock sound. Contemporaries include Subway to Sally, In Extremo, Saltatio Mortis, Regicide and Letzte Instanz.
Schandmaul was founded in the summer of 1998, when six musicians from Munich and the surrounding area decided to put on a concert of folks music songs. Because just doing covers was not enough, they decided to write some of their own stuff. Thus was created the first tune they wrote themselves, "Teufelsweib" (Devil Woman), which already had what was to become the typical Schandmaul sound that they've built on over the years. -

Soulbound
With pounding riffs, dark synths, and a strong sense of identity, Soulbound have carved out a solid place in the German metal scene over the past few years. 2024 marked a major milestone: reaching #12 in the official German album charts and nearly selling out their first headlining tour (8 out of 10 shows sold out),a testament to their rapidly growing community. Soulbound combine powerful metal sounds with socially critical lyrics and a unique blend of industrial, gothic, and metalcore elements. Their music is loud, honest, and emotional, a soundtrack for those who refuse to be put in a box. Whether on big festival stages or in sweat-drenched clubs, Soulbound deliver raw energy, depth, and a clear message. And they’re just getting started.
