Funkbox NYC marks 18 years with an extended session at Superior Ingredients, taking over both the rooftop and indoor space for a full day into night run.

Founded by Tony Touch and shaped by the legacy of the late Voodoo Ray, Funkbox has long stood as a dancer focused space within New York nightlife. Built on a foundation of raw, soulful and deep house, the party has stayed consistent in its identity while scenes around it have shifted. Week after week, it has remained a place where the floor comes first and the music speaks for itself.

This anniversary brings together a lineup that reflects that ethos. Moodymann joins as one of Detroit’s most influential voices, known for a catalog rooted in soul, jazz and blues and a presence that rarely follows convention. DJ Justice adds a rare appearance that broadens the scope of the night, while Eli Escobar returns as a key New York figure, bringing decades of experience shaped by the city’s club history and his own imprint, Night People. Disciple, EJoe, and Tony Touch round out the bill, with more artists still to be announced.

The format follows the rhythm of a New York summer. Doors open at 4PM on the rooftop, where the early hours unfold in open air with skyline views. As the evening sets in, the party moves inside to The Room, carrying through until 4AM.

Funkbox has never relied on spectacle. Its identity comes from consistency, community, and a deep connection to the roots of house music. Eighteen years in, that focus remains unchanged.

    Moodymann

Moodymann is the moniker under which Kenny Dixon Jr produces and DJs. He is a techno/house musician based in Detroit. He has created a thoroughly hybrid form of techno/house dance music via his innovative use of reworked riffs, samples and grooves taken from that city's historically influential jazz, soul, funk and disco scene. Some call it cut-up Detroit house. He offers a friendly wink backwards at the innovative early 1990s rave scene musicians through his extensive use of old movie sound track samples, mainly culled from the old blaxploitation and b-movie genres. He has been known to DJ behind a screen. He is one of the 3 Chairs.
