An Evening with Bernard Fanning

With special guest Georgia Mooney

Friday 10th July + Saturday 11th July

“On the back of this amazing run of shows in Australia, I’m so happy to be coming back to London to play two intimate shows at the beautiful Union Chapel. I’ll be performing songs from all across my records over the years and telling some long winded, mostly pointless stories. These are the last shows I’ll be playing for ages so come and have a sing with me in a phenomenal setting”. Bernard Fanning

Fresh from a sold-out run of theatres across Australia, marking twenty years since the release of Tea & Sympathy, Bernard Fanning brings his unmistakable voice—and his stories—to London for two intimate nights at Union Chapel on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July.

One of Australia’s most revered songwriters, Fanning first rose to prominence as the frontman of Powderfinger before forging a remarkable solo career. Across more than a dozen studio albums, he has built a body of work that has become deeply embedded in Australia’s cultural fabric. Songs such as My Happiness, These Days, Wish You Well, Songbird and Watch Over Me have soundtracked a generation, carried by a voice renowned for its warmth, grit and emotional clarity.

With seven No.1 albums and a host of industry honours—including multiple ARIA Awards and APRA Awards—Fanning’s influence at home is undeniable. Across more than two decades,

Bernard Fanning has crafted a catalogue defined by lyrical honesty, melodic strength, and a voice that remains instantly recognisable—equal parts power and vulnerability.

Originally released in 2005, Tea & Sympathy remains a defining work in Australian music. A multi-platinum, award-winning album, it introduced Fanning as a singular voice beyond the band format—introspective, literate and unmistakably his own. Two decades on, it stands as a landmark album—its influence undiminished, its songs as vital as ever, bridging continents and generations alike.

Set against the unique backdrop of Union Chapel, these rare London performances offer UK audiences an opportunity to experience one of Australia’s most revered musical voices in an intimate and resonant setting.

Bernard Fanning (born 15 August 1969) from Brisbane, Australia, is best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Powderfinger.

From 1994 to 2004 Powderfinger released five albums, a double CD live album, and a Best Of, after which they decided to take a break. Fanning's solo album Tea & Sympathy was released in October 2005 and debuted at #1 on the Australian ARIA Albums chart. Singles released from this album were Wish You Well, Songbird and Watch Over Me.

Fanning won three ARIA awards in 2006, Best Male Artist, Album of the Year for Tea and Sympathy, and Best Music Video for Wish You Well. In the same year Wish You Well was voted in at #1 on Australian youth radio station Triple J's 2005 Hottest 100 poll.

Fanning also contributed songs to the 2003 film Ned Kelly including Shelter for My Soul and a cover of the traditional song Moreton Bay.

Powderfinger released their 6th studio album, Dream Days at the Hotel Existence in June 2007 and are touring with Silverchair in the autumn. Therefore it is unlikely Fanning will release a second solo album soon.

ARIA-winner Georgia Mooney makes music fit for stargazing. Audiences already know her from beloved folk band, All Our Exes Live in Texas, who toured the world extensively, sharing stages with everyone from the Backstreet Boys to Nathaniel Rateliff to Midnight Oil. The release of Mooney’s debut solo album Full of Moon marks the stepping forward of a major talent. Co-produced with Grammy-winner Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, Cate Le Bon, Marlon Williams), the album is an ornately melodic, folk/dream-pop universe, carried by Mooney’s soaring ethereal vocals over lush, cinematic soundscapes.
