Stepping away from the intricate violin loops that had defined his earlier work, Kishi Bashi turned instead toward vintage synths, warmer textures, and a more open, vulnerable sound. Revisiting the music a decade on has been, in his own words, ‘a surprisingly emotional experience.’ Listening back to the original demos, he rediscovered the strength of those first instincts – ‘a reminder to always bet the farm on my musical ideas.’
