  Like many a band that has emerged from London’s vibrant music scene, Fat Dog earned their stripes at the venerable Windmill. Formed during the pandemic, the band’s DNA is characterised by a certain degree of social disgust, which is reflected in their gloriously dirty vocals and also in their songwriting. This is marked just as much by distorted rock ’n’ roll and a furious punk quality, as it is by futuristic synths and driving backbeats.

  Teeming with melodic epiphanies and layered sounds, Squid’s second album O Monolith is a musical evocation of environment, domesticity and self-made folklore. Like its predecessor, 2021’s critically acclaimed, UK number 4 album Bright Green Field, it is dense and tricksy – but also more warm and characterful, with a meandering, questioning nature. This is unmistakably music made by friends, but it’s not exclusionary – they’re inviting you in to listen with them.

  Alex Cameron is just as much a musician as he is a performance artist. He takes on personas – usually that of the sleazy everyman, the kind of guy who frequents strip clubs and casinos on weekday afternoons – and his work is deliberately provocative and transgressive, and rarely serious. Rather than coming across as a gimmick, though, Cameron completes a full circle of irony to cool again.

  Basht., hailed by HotPress as "one of the most exciting young rock bands to emerge in eons," have been making waves across Europe with their energetic performances. Combing new-wave bass lines, hip-hop-inspired drum beats, and raw guitar riffs with a classic rock and roll energy, their sophomore EP, Bitter & Twisted, was released in May 2025. On the back of their largest headline tour to date, the Irish foursome is now looking ahead to their debut run of European headline shows.

  Panic Shack

  If there's one thing Panic Shack know, it's how to have a good time. Comprised of Sarah, Meg, Romi, Em and Nick, the band formed in 2018 as a middle-finger to the “members-only club” atmosphere of indie and punk scenes – not just because they’re male-dominated, but because they make playing music seem out of reach or, even worse, boring.
  
  This carefree approach gives Panic Shack’s music the same effect as popping a bottle of Prosecco – explosive, intoxicating, and delightfully chaotic. With barely any music available online, they built a word-of-mouth following off the back of their live shows, which have been praised for fusing “thrashy early LA-style punk with choreography that owes something to the Go-Go’s and Iron Maiden all at once” (The Guardian).Released in 2022, their acclaimed Baby Shack EP bottled the lightning they have on stage, cementing their ability to blend killer hooks with a contagious sense of humour. Released in July 2025, Panic Shack’s self-titled debut album represents a serious level up. It finds the band expanding their gutsy punk sound into fuller territory, packed with vocal harmonies, synths and electronic experimentation.

  Formed in 2018 in New York, Lip Critic is the project of Bret Kaser, Connor Kleitz, Daniel Eberle, and Ilan Natter. The band is comprised of two samplers, two drummers and vocals. Through their unconventional instrumentation, Lip Critic executes an eclectic blend of punk, hardcore, club, modernistic pop sounds, and structures without inhibition. Paired with eccentric grandstand-style vocals, Lip Critic delivers a uniquely engaging live performance that rivals the hyper-stylized production on their records. These performances are heavily focused on improvisation and experimentation, including extended and remixed versions of songs, as well as band members attaching portable lights to their bodies. Their projects include "Kill Lip Critic" in 2019, "Lip Critic II" in 2020 and "Lip Critic: Truth Revealed" in 2021.

  For the better part of a decade, LA’s scrappy rock n’ roll mystics Death Valley Girls have used their music as a means of tapping into a communal cosmic energy. On albums like Glow In The Dark (2016), Darkness Rains (2018), and Under the Spell of Joy (2020) the band challenged the soul-crushing banality of modern society and celebrated “true magical infinite potential” through a collage of scorching proto-punk riffs, earworm melodies, far-out lyrics, and lysergic auxiliary instrumentation. But on their latest album Islands in the Sky, Death Valley Girls’ songwriting mastermind Bonnie Bloomgarden uses the band’s anthemic revelries as a guidebook to spiritual healing and a roadmap for future incarnations of the self. And while these may be the loftiest aims of Death Valley Girls to date, the resulting music is also by far their most infectious and celebratory.

  Iguana Death Cult

  Rotterdam-based fivesome Iguana Death Cult initially made their mark with giddy, hard-hitting garage punk and a miasma of acid-drenched psychedelics, only to blossom into an all-embracing unit that implements frameworks of post-punk, krautrock, new wave, soul and disco. The band’s sophomore album Nude Casino, which came out October 25, 2019 on LA imprint Innovative Leisure (who signed them after seeing them at SXSW 2019), holds aloft a more cerebral and absurdist side of their songwriting. Because of The Netherlands’ tight-knit infrastructure of venues and festivals, Iguana Death Cult’s momentum as a powerhouse live act climbed at a maniacal pace.   Plantoid are one of those bands that exceed the sum of their parts, with each member bringing a different flavour that enhances their sound tenfold. Tom has been playing guitar practically his whole life, and his style, which fluctuates from lush finger-picking to reverb-laden rock riffs, sits very comfortably on top of Louis’ jazz-infused drumming and Bernardo’s intricate basslines. The band found their ace-in-the-hole with Chloe, who, as well as serving as Plantoid’s principle lyricist, delivers soaring vocals, at times both angelic and alien, propelling each song on debut album Terrapath to new heights.

  Selling out shows before they’d even released any songs, London alt-rockers Silver Gore are only a couple of years into their life as a band but already making serious waves in the live music scene.   A mesh of criss-crossing rhythmic paths, melodic alleys and lyrical highways, the record possesses an immediacy that quickly turns its 12 tracks into lifelong friends - though no two listens ever seem quite the same.

  ARIA-winner Georgia Mooney makes music fit for stargazing. Georgia Mooney’s music is intricate, handcrafted, and richly melodic. Influences from Joni Mitchell, the Great American Songbook, even classical composers sift through her songs, alongside production that evokes the unsettling genius of Kate Bush. Add to that ribald stage banter engendering frequent comparisons to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, it’s no wonder Georgia is captivating audiences in every corner.
