De Duitse pianist/componist/producer Martin Kohlstedt maakt een fascinerende mix van ambient, minimal en modern klassiek. Zijn eerste bekendheid verwierf hij met het albumduo Tag (2012) en Nacht (2014) – van die tweede plaat verscheen ook een rework-versie, want Kohlstedt exploreert graag het elektronische domein. Ook is hij niet bang om te improviseren (zelf noemt hij het liever ‘modulair componeren’): hij ontwikkelt zijn muziekstukken gewoon door op het podium. Kohlstedts jongste album Feld (2023) is zijn meest ge(s)laagde tot nu toe en geeft zijn geheimen pas na vele draaibeurten prijs!
