The Wombats
The Wombats return with their most sophisticated and sonically adventurous album yet. Oh! The Ocean (out February 21st 2025) grooves with social anxiety, internal strife and the tribulations of LA life, where Murph lives. Once again they provide escapism from the mundane with songwriting that has profound meaning to audiences in turbulent times, packaged in the band’s deceptively cuddly and playful façade.
Oh! The Ocean marks a new era for the band, moving away from previous synthetic sounds to embrace a warmer-blooded approach. Taking 50 new songs into a studio in Echo Park, LA, in July 2024 for six weeks of sessions with new producer John Congleton (St Vincent, Wallows, Death Cab for Cutie), The Wombats shunned the AI studio techniques that have become prevalent in modern-day recording, in order to make a far more natural and human album.
Alongside familiar sounds they explore new genres from glistening tech rock to sci-fi pop, futuristic fuzz rock to bluesy rock’n’roll, with touches of disco and hip-hop-inflections.

Red Rum ClubDescribed as "Mariachi Merseybeat", Red Rum Club are a brass infused indie sextet from Liverpool, UK. Through extensive touring and regular releases, they have built a huge following - a measure of this is that they have sold out numerous venues nationwide, including two nights at The Olympia, Liverpool 4000 capacity, in November 2022. Since the return of live, they have supported Circa Waves on a UK tour, headlined two UK tours with many sold out shows, made their North America debut tour including several shows at SXSW 2022, and supported Miles Kane. Following a summer of festivals 2022, the band also undertook their 2nd North America Autumn tour with 14 dates, followed by a short break before a UK & Ireland near sold out tour in November. The band are thrilled to be returning to SXSW and more USA adventures, plus the recording of the band’s 4th studio album. -
Ben EllisAt just 23, Cardiff-born singer-songwriter Ben Ellis has become one of the UK’s most quietly magnetic new voices, blending intimate acoustic songwriting with the emotional depth of indie-pop. His upcoming third EP marks a pivotal moment both emotionally and musically. Written across two trips to Los Angeles in the aftermath of a breakup, the project explores the complexities of heartbreak, drifting between moments of clarity and confusion.
“There was so much love still there,” Ellis says. “It’s crazy how art kind of comes from those moments.” Lead single “Where She Goes” emerged from a journal entry written the day after the breakup.
From there, the EP grew into a layered and collaborative body of work. Tracks like “When It Ends” push into rock territory with biting guitars, while “Animal” leans into warm, ’70s-inspired folk textures reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac. Co-produced by Grammy-nominated Matt Rad and longtime collaborator James October, the sessions saw Ellis push himself creatively, from late-night listens to Damien Rice to recording live drums at LA’s legendary Studio 606.

The Family Battenberg‘The Family Battenberg have perfected a filthy, fuzzy psychedelic sound that they’ve coined as “spider rock.” (The Face)
The Family Battenberg's 'Anteater' single, released in April 2025, is an independent release by the Cardiff based four-piece. The track was written in just a day, and it was recorded at Tom Rees’ (Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard) studio while he was on holiday. To master the recording the group sought out long-time collaborator Eddie Al-Shakarchi (Boy Azooga, Loathe, Swim Deep.) Aligning with the soundscape that’s signature to them, ‘Anteater’ is The Family Battenberg finessed. Drenched in fuzzy saturation, spacey vocals ricochet between a blistering guitar, all while a double-tracked mono drum plays like a call to action. This is an anti-love song. When unhealthy adoration becomes a quest for romance, or approval in this case, we find ourselves doing strange things. In this story, the protagonist justifies total metamorphosis in the name of subservience. “It’s self-humiliation in the pursuit of a potential suitor’s attention,” as frontman Eliot puts it. Anyone that has seen this band live before is sure to recognise it from past setlists. The group had played it as an unreleased track amongst their own shows and a host of major festivals, namely, Greenman, Trans Musicales 2024, Reeperbahn 2024 and ESNS 2025. As budding upcomers, the group have also supported the likes of Getdown Services, Panic Shack, Gruff Rhys and the Bug Club. Championed by Steve Lamacq, Amy Lame, Huw Stephens and Adam Walton, the group are already making their mark on the industry.
