HolmarHólmar discovered his passion for music while putting together playlists "live" at parties all over Reykjavik's bustling underground scene. He then moved to New York, where he hit the ground running and started throwing rollicking parties all over the Big Apple. He formed the infamous Crack & Speed Records with his good Parisian friend Jef-k. On C&S he debuted his music as a part of the “super” group Mr. Negative & The Spencer Filipsson Experience.
During one of Holmar’s parties at a former brothel on the Lower East Side, he met Greg Oreck and shortly thereafter founded “Thugfucker”. After working together for a few years, during one hot summer night in Hólmar’s studio in Williamsburg, they created “Disco Gnome”. This record ended up being the first release on Life and Death Records and launched them into the international scene along with Tale of Us and Dj Tennis. He spent next years touring with Greg and fellow mates at Life and Death causing general mayhem and good times at clubs and festivals all around the globe.
In 2011 he went to Burning Man for the first time, a pivotal moment for him, and now he can be found every year, riding his bike around and playing many marathon sets all week long.
In recent years in addition to his work with "Thugfucker" he has started new collaborations. He co-founded “Lovestruckk” with Nico Stojan, “Theory of Light” with Brian Cid, “The Birds Fly South” with Maxxi Soundsystem and Beauty N the Beast with Philipp Jung.
In 2018 we saw his departure from “Thugfucker", launching his solo career. In 2019 in addition to his acid tourist antics traveling all around the world and playing parties and festivals, he has released “The Mothership” E.P. on Get Physical and the “Disarmed” remix with Nico Stojan as Lovestruckk on Oüie Records.
Recently he also brought his dancing shoes back out of retirement and has staged new impromptu of dance performances of the "Black Widows" on and off stage during his shows, staying true to his choreography roots… -

CloZeeA purveyor of lucid sounds, French producer Chloé Herry is a worldly and rhythmic figure in the electronic music atmosphere. Now based in Denver, CloZee has made a name for herself by skewing the usual curves of bass music and evoking a spiritual and evolutionary sound. In 2020, CloZee started a new journey with the launch of her own artist-friendly label, Odyzey Music, where she’s devoted to highlighting the underground artists of bass music and beyond. With the inception of Odyzey Music, CloZee released her highly anticipated sophomore album Neon Jungle, which later saw official remixes by Lane 8, Opiuo, Emancipator, and Of the Trees, and was followed by her Nouvelle Era EP in 2021. With a reputation as a curator of experimental sounds, Odyzey Music has hosted official stage takeovers at festivals like Electric Zoo and Sonic Bloom, in addition to CloZee’s own Voyage Festival. As one of bass music’s foremost female innovators, CloZee has garnered attention across the electronic music spectrum, even gracing the cover of DJ Mag in December 2022. She recently announced her next album “Microworlds” will be coming out this summer 2023.

Zero 7In a noisy world we should be grateful there’s still a space for acts likes Zero 7, the Greta Garbos of the music industry. It’s not that they are reclusive, merely that they prefer to do things their way; at a glacial pace that somehow also evokes the warmth of their music, too. Given that Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns first met as teenagers, it’s a testament to their durability and friendship that more than 30 years later they are still here, still working and producing music of the highest stripe.
The pair first met in North West London. Having attended an audio engineering college, they both served apprenticeships as tape ops at Mickie Most’s legendary RAK Studios. “We learnt a lot there,” says Sam. “Incredible sessions in the big live room in Studio One. We’d do bands but also string sections, horns and orchestras. It was an amazing, priceless education.” However, a growing need to fiddle about with AKAI samplers led to them leaving RAK and taking a vow of poverty while they tried to hone their sound.
Their first break came via friend and RAK colleague, Nigel Godrich, who offered them a Radiohead remix. The leap from the pair’s ‘Climbing Up The Walls’ mix to debut album Simple Things was not huge, even if the success was completely unexpected.
Simple Things was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize, was certified Platinum in the UK and sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. It was an amazing achievement for a debut album, but it came with its own pressures. “We had no ambition beyond that record when we made Simple Things,” confesses Henry. “So we were suddenly landed in a weird place.”
Over the ensuing eight years, Zero 7 recorded a further three albums, including Grammy Nominated The Garden, arguably their finest of the quartet. Inevitably, without a regular chart presence, they were quietly released into the wilds after the release of Yeah Ghost in 2009. While none of the subsequent albums matched the sales of their debut, the quality has never faltered (check ‘The Road’ on Yeah Ghost for abundant evidence).
Over the course of the last decade, they have concentrated on releasing a series of brilliant singles and EPs on their own Make Records imprint, among them the divine José Gonzáles ‘Aurora’ and ‘Last Light’, bewitching ‘Swimmers’, featuring Jem Cooke and the brilliant 4 track ‘Shadows’ EP with Lou Stone with accompanying video, directed by Julian House whose artwork adorned Simple Things
Working in an industry that thrives on cheap thrills and expensive habits, sometimes it’s hard to cut through to the things that truly matter. But more than 20 years down the line, Zero 7 are still delivering the goods.
