SlackersOne of New York's most notable ska bands, the Slackers formed in Brooklyn in 1991 and have played the world over many times since. Their first release was an eponymous self-released album, distributed by Moon Records in 1993 on cassette. Their first real debut is "Better Late Than Never" on moon ska records. Coming out in 1996, this album saw a movement to more traditional ska music, as opposed to their earlier two-tone and garage influences. It was produced by Victor Rice, a noted ska/reggae producer. The next album released was Redlight, on Hellcat Records in 1997. This album solidified their sound and further fixed the line-up. The band released its latest album, entitled Self Medication, in May of 2008.

Laura Jane Grace is a major figure in today’s rock scene as both a solo artist and the front person of Against Me!, which she founded in Naples, FL in the late 1990s. As a working artist, she has released four solo offerings and seven albums with Against Me!, and in 2012 went public with her gender transition in the pages of Rolling Stone. In her music, she continues to detail her journey all while staying true to her earlier themes of outspoken political critique – environmentalism along with personal and social liberation – with a base in American music including country and folk-rock, with a penchant for noise and anarchy. -
Knorkator
Knorkator is a German band from Berlin-Köpenick that combines Industrial Metal with non-serious and comical elements. They proclaim themselves to be "Germany's most band in the world" (German: "Deutschlands meiste Band der Welt"), as the title "The best band in the world" was already taken by Die Ärzte. The band was founded in 1994, but only played live gigs in the Berlin / Brandenburg area until 1998.
Knorkator gained further fame (and some notoriety) in 2000 with their performance of Ick wer zun Schwein (sic; literally - berlin dialect "I'm turning into a pig") in the German national qualification for the Eurovision song contest. Knorkator's wild stage shows and explicit lyrics, as well as the fact that nearly half of the vocalist's body is tattooed black, have earned them a reputation as a chaotic comedy band; however, the band's music actually shows considerable technical and artistic merit that is sometimes overlooked.
Most of Knorkator's lyrics are in German; however, some songs also feature English (Beating around the bush, Ma Baker etc.), Thai (Mai khao djai, Khid tyng baan), Latin (Aeger sum, Absolution) or French (Ma belle fêmme, Franz Hose) lyrics.
