Ibrahim MaaloufHe is one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary jazz and world music. A virtuoso trumpeter, composer, and visionary with Lebanese-French roots, he is able to connect Arabic musical traditions with jazz, rock, electronics, and a cinematic atmosphere. His repertoire includes both traditional and classical compositions as well as modern styles. His instrument certainly does not limit him. This was already demonstrated by Ibrahim’s father, who invented a trumpet that allows musicians to interpret Arabic folk music. Ibrahim Maalouf will bring his unique project Trumpets of Michel Ange to Ostrava, a project he has been dedicated to in recent years. On the album of the same name, he achieves a perfect balance between sophistication and accessibility, making the music both demanding and appealing to a diverse audience. It is a true blend of influences, in which the ceremonial and nostalgic East is expressed with unusual freedom. This concert will be a celebration that brings together generations, amateurs and professionals alike, and shows just how powerful an instrument the trumpet can be.
