Hailing from New York, US, H2O are a popular punk rock act, who cut their teeth alongside the likes of Sick of It All, Misfits and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Good Riddance

Good Riddance is a hardcore punk band from Santa Cruz, California which was formed in the early 1990s. The band grew out of California’s vibrant surfing and skateboarding culture and was influenced by such bands as Black Flag, The Adolescents, TSOL and Bad Religion as well as East Coast bands like Sick Of It All and the Cro Mags.

The group’s early years were spent going through line up changes, playing local and regional shows and recording demos as they developed their sound. Early tours and a 7” record release on Little Deputy Records in 1993 (“Gidget”) brought the band widespread interest and overwhelmingly positive reviews.

In 1994 the band caught the interest of Fat Wreck Chords who released the “Decoy” 7″ later that year while the band hit the studio with producer Ryan Greene to record their first full length album “For God And Country” which was released in early 1995.

Over the next decade Good Riddance went on to release seven full length albums and an EP for Fat while crisscrossing the globe dozens of times on tour. The band developed a dedicated and passionate fan base through their constant touring and politically charged music. Good Riddance began donating a portion of their record sales to various organizations and doing whatever they could to raise awareness about the causes they felt strongly about.

In May 2007 Good Riddance played their final show, fittingly in their hometown of Santa Cruz. The members then went their separate ways to raise families and pursue careers. Though there have been numerous offers to reform and play in the five years since, the band has turned them all down.

Wie wunderschön es doch ist, wenn erstmal gar nichts muss. Wenn aber eigentlich alles kann. Wenn man als Punkrock-Band wie ITCHY auf keiner Trendwelle surfen muss, um dann irgendwann im Hype zu ersaufen. Wenn man niemals dem Zeitgeist nachjagt aus Angst, plötzlich von gestern zu sein. Wenn man auf einmal merkt, wie saugut man wirklich aussieht mit aufgeschürften Ellenbogen, durchgelaufenen Hosen, blutverkrusteten Lippen und einem Lächeln, in dem mehrere Zähne fehlen.

Und wenn man wie Sibbi, Panzer und Max eben nicht mehr den Dreck aus den Klamotten klopft, weil man sich nach 15 Jahren Bandgeschichte, über 900 Shows in 20 Ländern und auf dem mittlerweile 7. Studioalbum »All We Know« einfach locker machen darf.

Gereist wird ab sofort mit dem absoluten Wissen um die eigenen Stärken - und ganz ohne Sperrgepäck. Nach den ersten anderthalb Dekaden, dem letzten Album 2015 auf Platz 5 der Deutschen Albumcharts OHNE große TV Show und dicke Hose, sowie einer längeren Verschnaufpause hat das Trio aus Eislingen an der Fils im Jahr 2017 den alten Bandnamen ITCHY POOPZKID auf das saloppe und schon seit Jahren gebräuchliche Fan-Kürzel ITCHY reduziert, kümmert sich derweil aber schon längst um viel wichtigere Dinge:

Textlich wie musikalisch geht’s auf »All We Know« deutlich tiefer, facettenreicher und - da ist das schlimme Wort! - erwachsener zur Sache. Wenn man überhaupt sein musikalisches Coming of Age als alte Hasen der Punkrock-Szene haben kann, dann doch bitte so.

Persönliche Kinnhaken und auch sozialkritische Seitenhiebe gibt es in Singles wie ‘Nothing‘ oder ‘Fall Apart‘ wie geschnitten Tofu, aber dieses Mal bei aller Kante eben irgendwie lässiger. Cooler. Tänzelnd. »All We Know« hat an all den richtigen Stellen eine gehörige Portion Groove, positive Power und Singalong-Hits und kann gleichwohl Melancholie und Nachdenklichkeit, ohne dabei verbittert zu wirken. Anders gesprochen: Bei aller Energie nehmen ITCHY dieses Mal nicht unbedingt den kürzesten Weg, um mit dem Kopf durch die Wand zu rennen, damit die Sonne von außen rein scheint. Müssen sie auch gar nicht: Mit der 3. Single ‘The Sea‘ hat man den Sommer kurzerhand selbst mitgebracht für all die Festivals, die da draußen auf die verlässliche Live-Bank ITCHY und ihre neuen Songs warten.

Mit Arising Empire/Nuclear Blast haben die Jungs übrigens nach drei DIY-Veröffentlichungen über ihre eigene Plattenfirma Findaway Records nun eine neue Labelheimat gefunden, die nicht besser zum Arbeitsethos der Band passen könnte.

Aber lassen wir dazu die Jungs doch kurz bei einem entspannten Getränk selbst zu Wort ko-… Hoppla, da sind sie auch schon wieder auf der Bühne. Verdammte Arbeitstiere! Gut so!
