Wolves In the Throne Room
Nearly two decades into their journey as masters of US Black Metal, Wolves In The Throne
Room have emerged from the forest with PRIMORDIAL ARCANA. Their most majestic
album to date.
While the proverbial blaze in the northern sky remains the band’s artistic palette of choice,
Primordial Arcana expands upon black metal to include musical forms that pre-date the
genre’s devastating second wave. “After we discovered Metallica and Slayer in our early
teens, the first extreme metal bands we were into were Deicide and Morbid Angel,” Aaron
explains. “So death metal was there from the very beginning, and I think it especially comes
to the fore on this record.”
It’s all more evidence that Wolves In The Throne Room are a band with few
contemporaries. “We have a singular and unique voice in the extreme metal world,” Aaron
says. “We’re coming from an unapologetically real and personal perspective, and we haven't
made any concessions to what's expected of us. We’ve always done things exactly the way
we want to do it and in a super DIY way.”
That methodology has reached a new peak with Primordial Arcana. “We’ve gotten even
deeper into the DIY aspect by building our own recording studio from the ground up, and
producing and mixing the record ourselves,” Aaron points out. “And now we’re making our
own videos within the local wilderness. So we’ve been able to keep all of the creative
control between the three of us while raising the bar creatively. As we become more insular
and rely on ourselves more, the art gets better and sharper—a more perfect representation
of what the band is all about.”

CrowbarAmerican doom / sludge rock band from Louisiana, characterized by their extremely slow, low-keyed, hardcore and brooding songs.
Starting in 1989 and taking its name from the Crowbar group in NOLA (New Orleans), Kirk Windstein went on to pioneer slow and heavy music with a unique vocal style. Their first album, "Obedience Through Suffering" was released in 1991, but failed to achieve notoriety. By 1993's self-titled (Crowbar) album, personal friend Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down, and Superjoint Ritual among others) produced the record, which eventually led to national promotion on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. Phil sang back up on a few tracks and sang background on "Broken Glass" which rounded out the anthems "All I Had (I Gave)," "I Have Failed" and "Existence is Punishment" along with a new take on the Led Zeppelin song "No Quarter." Following their success the band went on to record music videos, major tours with Pantera, and more albums. Their band stage antics became infamous, which led to being immoralized in the Pantera "Home Video 3" and Crowbar's "Like Broken" Home Video.
As time moved on the band lost its founding members with the exception on vocal and guitarist Kirk Windstein. After Todd Strange left the band, the trademark 300 pound + band members slimmed down and the heaviness was only in the music and not the band members. The band continues to perform, borrowing members from NOLA metal bands like Goatwhore and Acid Bath. In their recent 2005 release, "Life's Blood For The Downtrodden" Pantera bassist rex brown lent his bass duties and keyboard playing and Down's producer Warren Riker. -

Eyehategod
American sludge band from Louisiana who are known for their dark, sludgy riffs combined with equally dark lyrics. Like many sludge metal bands, Eyehategod draw on both stoner/doom influences as well as hardcore punk. Eyehategod have noted Melvins, Black Flag, and Black Sabbath as key influences to their sound. This, combined with heavy, detuned, and bluesy riffs dominate the band's sound. They are combined with walls of feedback and distinctive tortured vocals to create a truly misanthropic vibe. While Jimmy Bower was busy playing drums for Down, rather than sit on their laurels, the other 4 members of Eyehategod formed a side-project called Outlaw Order (abbreviated to OO%). The band released a limited edition 7" EP in 2003 called Legalize Crime, which has since been rereleased on CD with a bonus live track and is available through Eyehategod's webstore. The criminal theme is apparently because at the time of formation, all 5 of the members were on probation, and have consistently been in trouble with the law. Marc Shultz is currently serving a prison sentence and so has been replaced by Justin Grisoli. The band have recorded their 13 track debut full-length and will release it sometime soon, they are "waiting for a label worth a fuck".

Cabal
Rooted in a wide array of musical influences ranging from black metal and hardcore, to death metal and industrial, CABAL have cemented themselves as a band at the cutting edge of the extreme metal scene, ready to tear down all genre borders.
CABAL first emerged from the the shadows in 2016 as their first release Purge pushed the boundaries of the extreme metal scene in their homeland. Two years later, their debut album Mark of Rot ripped CABAL out of the Danish underground, establishing the band as an international act with a promising future. Soon after, the band began playing their first big festivals and toured through Europe, Japan and North America. But the cultists had bigger plans..
CABAL released their sophomore album Drag Me Down in 2020 - a dark descent into a personal hell brought to life by crushing instrumentals, an oppressive atmosphere and dark personal lyrics delivered with relentless intensity, while still leaving room for experimentation and expansion of CABAL’s signature sound. Drag Me Down took CABAL to new heights, as the shows got bigger and the attention of the music industry grew immensely.
With guest appearances on their previous albums from none other than Trivium’s Matt Heafy, Jamie Hails of Polaris, CJ McMahon from Thy Art is Murder and Filip Danielsson of Humanity’s Last Breath, CABAL no doubt have friends in every corner of the metal scene.
In the early winter of 2022, CABAL marked a new era with the release of Magno Interitus. Singer Andreas Bjulver Paarup says: “The main theme on the album is the great decay happening all around us. It seems that everything just falls apart in these days. This applies to politics, society in general as well as some personal things. We tried to translate the feelings that we have about the state of the world into music.”
CABAL are not only charting new territory with their visceral and doom-laden sound but are also moving out of the comforts of their dark, black and white signature aesthetic into bright colours inspired from Ari Asters latest masterpiece, ‘Midsommar’. Flowers, vines and eerie cultist May Queens are amongst the new visual elements that define the aesthetic of Magno Interitus.
Andreas, who is the art director and lyricist in the band, is excited about the new direction of the album: “We have a kind of base sound, our safe home. From there, we can experiment and try something new. On Magno Interitus we really left our comfort zone and went deeper into the details and extremes than ever before. You can hear it on the title track, as well as on the opener “If I Hang, Let Me Swing” or on “Exsanguination”. These are my personal three favourites on the album at the moment.”
Once more, CABAL brought in some extraordinary features on the album such as Joe ‘Bad’ Badolato of Fit For An Autopsy on Magno Interitus, as well as Simon Olsen from the Danish band BAEST on the track “Insidious”. This time around, CABAL also experimented with a completely different format by inviting the dark, industrial duo ‘John Cxnnor’ to co-create the unique track “Blod af Mit”.
The album was released in October 2022 through Nuclear Blast Records.
With the release of their 4th studio album ‘Everything Rots’, released through Nuclear Blast Records in 2025, the band shows their most ferocious and bleak side yet. Like a rabid hellhound this album is foaming at the mouth and is ready to once again unleash the rot upon the world.
CABAL is:
Andreas Bjulver - Vocal
Dennis Hursid - Guitar
Mikkel Hvam - Drums
Chris Kreutzfeld - Guitar
