About the Artists
Kate Mahood
Hailing from the coastal country of Central Queensland, Kate Mahood is a folk and alt-country singer-songwriter whose music beautifully captures the raw textures of regional Australia. Growing up with the timeless songwriting of Neil Young, Gillian Welch, and Paul Kelly on high rotation, Kate spent over a decade quietly refining her craft as a self-taught guitarist and writer before ever stepping onto a public stage. That deep, patient dedication shows in her work; her music is a seamless blend of delicate folk fingerpicking and the honest, haunting storytelling heart of classic country.
Since graduating from the Tamworth Academy of Country Music, Kate has gone from strength to strength, sharing stages with celebrated Australian artists like Busby Marou, The Whitlams, and Pete Murray, and performing at festivals across the country. Known for her critically acclaimed debut EP Once You Were a Mountain and powerful environmental laments like Little Finch, Kate’s arresting vocals and beautifully crafted melodies portray a rare vulnerability that hits right at the chest, leaving listeners spellbound by the quiet power of her personal truths.
