Airwaves : Cell7

Iceland’s hip hop scene has grown rapidly over the past two decades, with Cell7 at its core. A trailblazer who helped shape the genre, she remains one of its most distinctive voices and one of the few women to break through in a male-dominated space.
A veteran with lasting influence, Cell7 is frequently cited as an inspiration by both established artists and a new generation of rappers. Her sophomore solo album, Is Anybody Listening? (2019), earned the Icelandic Music Award for Best Hip Hop Album and a nomination for the Nordic Music Prize.
Her highly anticipated third album, Deep Cuts, reflects the confidence of an artist deeply rooted in her craft while retaining the hunger and energy to push boundaries. With sharp lyricism, authenticity, and commanding presence, Cell7 continues to expand the possibilities of Icelandic hip hop and challenge expectations of what rap from the north can sound like.
