Airwaves : Kaktus Einarsson

Kaktus Einarsson is an Icelandic artist whose music draws on indie pop, electronic, and post-punk influences. Born and raised in Reykjavík, he began performing as a child with experimental electronic acts before rising to prominence as the frontman of the acclaimed band Fufanu.

As a solo artist, Kaktus blurs genre boundaries, combining lush melodies, inventive production, and autobiographical themes. His debut solo album, Kick the Ladder, released in 2021, showcased his distinctive ability to merge classical instrumentation with electronic textures. His 2024 album, Lobster Coda, expanded on this approach with collaborations from artists including Nanna of Of Monsters and Men and Damon Albarn. On his latest album, Factoid Happiness, featuring John Grant, RAKEL, Thibault Gomez, and Jessica Winter, he continues this journey, further cementing his place as one of the most distinctive musical voices on the Icelandic scene.
