KENNY DIXON JR. aka MOODYMANN hails from Detroit – a city that has given the world a sound like no other. Kenny Dixon Jr. isn’t just a producer; he’s a creator of emotion, weaving together soul, funk, jazz, and blues through the lens of house music in a way no one else has ever matched.

He says he doesn’t make music for people just to dance to. And that’s not just talk – it's a kind of manifesto. He’s one of the few in electronic music who lets the sound speak for itself. Everything he wants to say, he says through the decks.

MOODYMANN is the founder of the independent label KDJ Records. Since the mid-90s, he has built a true catalog of timeless classics – The Day We Lost the Soul, dedicated to Marvin Gaye, Forevernevermore, I Can’t Kick This Feeling When It Hits, Don’t Be Misled, Dem Young Sconies – tracks that live beyond time. As part of the 3 Chairs collective, alongside Theo Parrish and Rick Wilhite, he helped shape Detroit’s distinctive sound that continues to define generations.

The venue where we’ll welcome him is anything but ordinary. THE PURGATORY sits slightly outside the center but far beyond the usual – exactly where music finds the right stage: free of limits, rules, or restraints — made to delight all the senses. On the summer stage, under the open sky – the courtyard space was made for experiences, not just background noise.
