“2027 marks the 25th anniversary of OBSCURA, and we are kicking off the year with the longest European & UK run we have ever undertaken. 39 shows with no days off — a true statement. Remember: it’s not a tour if there’s a day off.
SHRED FEST 2027 brings together some of the finest representatives of European extreme metal, featuring bands from France, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany. Joined by the legendary Dutch Pestilence, the UK’s avant-garde force Cryptic Shift, Denmark’s progressive/melodic death metal act Thus, and France’s relentless DVRK, we will perform across the continent for weeks, culminating in a hometown show in Munich, Germany.
Spread the word, bring your friends, and support all bands from start to finish — see you all in 2027.” - Steffen Kummerer
Introduction SHRED FEST:
SHRED FEST is an annual touring festival concept that sets its sights on a different continent each year — uniting some of the most ferocious and technically accomplished bands in extreme metal. In 2027, following previous editions across North America and Australia, SHRED FEST arrives in Europe and the United Kingdom for its most ambitious chapter to date.
From January 20th to February 27th, 2027, SHRED FEST will traverse the continent with 39 shows and no days off — a relentless run that stands as a statement of endurance, precision, and uncompromising musicianship. Leading the charge are Obscura, joined by the legendary Pestilence, the UK’s boundary-pushing Cryptic Shift, Denmark’s progressive force Thus, and France’s relentless DVRK.

Obscura
OBSCURA are one of Germany’s most influential extreme metal bands, known for redefining technical death metal through precision, melody, and forward-thinking composition. Founded in 2002 by guitarist and vocalist Steffen Kummerer, the band have released seven critically acclaimed studio albums and performed over 800 shows across four continents.
With releases such as Cosmogenesis, Omnivium, Akróasis, Diluvium, and A Valediction, OBSCURA earned international recognition, high chart placements worldwide, and a reputation as a formidable live act. Their music bridges technical complexity with memorable songwriting, pushing the genre beyond established boundaries.
Their latest album A Sonication (Nuclear Blast) marks the second chapter of an ongoing conceptual trilogy. The album refines OBSCURA’s signature sound while expanding it with broader dynamics, modern production, and thematic depth. Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman, A Sonication represents a new era for the band both musically and visually, with artwork by acclaimed artist Eliran Kantor.
Now touring worldwide as part of the A Sonication World Tour (2025–2027), OBSCURA continue to stand at the forefront of modern extreme metal, combining innovation, discipline, and intensity on stages around the globe.
