Fancy Weapon Album Launch | The Tote | With Star/Time + Chris Smith

With the release of their self-titled debut album now five weeks away, Fancy Weapon, the new Melbourne-based group whose members are Mick Turner, Claire Birchall, Joel Silbersher and Guy Maddison, have set an album launch for Saturday July 4 at the Tote.

Special guests for the show are Star/Time, a 7-piece who have dubbed themselves "The New Marxist Urban Sound Collective" and whose improvisational performances hover somewhere between electro-funk and maximalist progressive chaos; and experimental/indie-rock guitarist Chris Smith, whose current live performances - equal parts muted, mesmeric blues and stabbing gnarl 'n' twang - come across like Loren Connors chasing Link Wray down an alley with a switchblade.

The launch announcement follows the release of the first two singles and videos from the forthcoming Fancy Weapon album, "Squid" and "Squirmin' Merman", and comes ahead of the bands upcoming shows with Mogwai (May 25, Forum, Melbourne) and Tortoise (May 30, Corner Hotel, Melbourne).

Fancy Weapon’s debut album will be released on Poison City on JUNE 19th. It will be available on limited edition ‘Deep Sea Blue’ colour vinyl (first 100 copies signed by the band!), CD and all digital stores world-wide. Preorders are available now via Poison City E-Store and Bandcamp.
