Welsh rock trio Holding Absence have announced their first ever Australian headline tour this August, bringing California metalcore outfit Kingdom of Giants out to join them on their run around the country.
The run sees Holding Absence stepping into several cities as headliners for the first time, after having previously visited supporting tours with Thornhill, Void Of Vision and You Me At Six.
Over the past decade, the Cardiff group have built a devoted global following and a reputation as an unmissable live act. Amassing hundreds of millions of streams worldwide, they have toured extensively across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia. Earlier this month, they shared their poignant new single "Whisper Of A Dream", their first new music since 2023's The Noble Art Of Self-Destruction and their debut release with Sumerian Records. Since forming in 2015, Holding Absence have rapidly established themselves as leaders within modern post-hardcore, with The Noble Art Of Self-Destruction closing a defining trilogy that began with their 2019 self-titled debut and 2021’s The Greatest Mistake Of My Life.
Joining them on all dates, Kingdom of Giants return to Australia following their 2023 run with Bury Tomorrow. Since then, they’ve released two new EPs, Bleeding Star and Burning Chrome, and are primed and ready to bring their expansive and cinematic take on heavy music back to Aussie stages. Their sound lives at the meeting point between crushing and compelling, drawing inspiration from synthwave and cyberpunk, bending the boundaries of modern heavy music.

Kingdom Of GiantsKingdom of Giants is a 6 piece Metalcore band from Northern CA. Established in 2011, they have relentlessly been touring in The USA, Canada, and Europe, with bands such as Volumes, Fit For A King, Phinehas, and I, The Breather. Their first major album, "Ground Culture" was produced by Andreas Magnusson (Haste The Day, The Black Dahlia Murder, Fit For A King) and released after signing to InVogue Records in the fall of 2014.
In a genre / age where recording quality is at an all time best, Kingdom Of Giants excel in translating this quality to a high energy, organic, live experience. The band is composed of Dana Willax (Vocalist), Max Bremer (Guitarist), Red Martin (Guitarist), Julian Perez (Guitarist), Levi Norris (Bassist), and Truman Berlin (Drummer).
The band does a great job of keeping their albums interesting from start to finish. Each song sounds much different than the previous, but they are able to capture one overall feeling of cohesiveness throughout. Songs like the title track, "Ground Culture" or "Endure" seem to portray what the band is all about, while others like, "Sky Burial" and "Virtue" show just how dynamic their sound really is.
"It would indeed be a shame for the group to fade into the sea of mediocre crap that other bands are more than content to thrive in, because it's blatantly obvious that Kingdom Of Giants refuse to be ignored and will be heard. This resilience literally dripped off their last full length and was pervasive and infective, a pure "soundtrack to a revolution."" -Sputnik Music
"If you listen to the lyrical content of each track, you can easily spot a continuous theme throughout the record. The lyrics tackle questioning religious faith, understanding our own mortality, and dealing with the loss of family members. I think these themes are easily relatable, especially for our generation, which is one of the least religious generations ever. The desire to achieve more in life is something we can all understand" -Under The Gun Reviews

StepsonBrisbane's explosive emo/metalcore juggernauts, Stepson, are set to ignite 2024 with a return to their roots - the Discover Lonely Tour. The band is fresh off the heels of recording sessions with Callan Orr of Avalanche Studios (keep your eyes peeled for new music) and is now preparing for a return to more intimate venues, where Stepson will revisit spaces not seen in years, delivering an immersive experience for fans.
Riding high on the success of their 2021 debut album, "Help Me, Help You," and the impactful 2022 single "Eraser," Stepson has conquered two triumphant national headlining tours and provided support to Australian heavyweights Northlane and Ocean Sleeper across the nation. Their achievements also secured them highly sought-after spots at prestigious festivals such as Unify Gathering and Full Tilt. Venturing beyond their home turf, Stepson toured Europe and the UK, sharing stages with Polaris, Alpha Wolf, and Great American Ghost. With these experiences under their belt, the band is now in peak form, poised to deliver an electrifying performance that will undoubtedly leave fans in awe.
This tour will see the band perform 7 shows throughout April, playing in Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney and Brisbane. These are the most intimate shows the band has played in years, get your tickets while you can!
As Stepson unveils this new era, they will be joined by long-time friends, Sydney metalcore tyrants Heists, bringing their own brand of unique intensity to the tour. Also joining the ranks of support for the Discover Lonely Tour are Brisbane's own Upsetter, adding their cathartic blend of shoegaze and emo to the lineup. This will be the band’s debut national tour and is not to be missed.
