To/Die/For is a Finnish gothic metal band. The band began in early 1999, when the musicians from the hard rock band Mary-Ann (which had existed since 1993) decided to change their musical style to gothic metal, modifying the band's name as well. In July of that year, after recording a self-financed EP entitled Deeper Sin, they signed a record deal with Spinefarm Records.

Their debut album - All Eternity - was released in Finland by the end of that year and the band then signed contracts with Nuclear Blast (for Europe) and Pony Canyon (for Japan). In 2000, the band toured Europe together with Dark Tranquillity, Sentenced and In Flames. Epilogue was released in 2001 and was followed by a tour with Lacrimosa.

The album Jaded was released in 2003 and in August of that year, vocalist Jarno Perätalo left the band. He assembled a new band named Tiaga, integrated by former members of To/Die/For. However, in 2004, Jarno Perätalo and the band Tiaga took the name To/Die/For for themselves, releasing the album IV in 2005.

To/Die/For is currently in the studio recording their fifth album, due for release in October 2006.

Sportfreunde Stiller

Sportfreunde Stiller (English: Sportfriends Stiller) is a german rock band from Germering near Munich, Bavaria, consisting of Florian "Flo" Weber (drums), Rüdiger "Rüde" Linhof (bass) and Peter S. Brugger (guitar). When they were officially founded in 1996, Andi Erhardt played the bass, but left the band one year later and Rüdiger Linhof became the new bassist. Sportfreunde Stiller started on the underground rock scene, with their songs only appearing on indie stations at first and their albums Macht doch, was ihr wolt - ich geh jetzt!(1996) and Thonträger(1998). Their first big single "Wellenreiten '54" (Surfing '54) was released in 1999. Containing this release their first major record "So wie einst Real Madrid" (As once Real Madrid) followed in 2000 and made the "Sporties" well known to Germany's upcoming indie rock scene. The second big relaese "Die gute Seite" (The Good Side) came in 2002 and established Sportfreunde's unique and good mooded style of rock music. Since having success with their third major album Burli (Bavarian: a small boy), Sportfreunde Stiller became one of Germany's leading rock bands. They topped the charts with their soccer-themed anthem '54 '74 '90 2006, a homage to their country's World Cup wins, though hastily retitled '54 '74 '90 2010 when Germany was defeated in the tournament in 2006. In August 2007, they released their 5th studio-album "La Bum", which topped the charts after three weeks.

The Donots are a band from Germany, formed in 1993 in Ibbenbüren. The name of the band came into being by chance: The bassist of the band, Jan-Dirk Poggemann wanted to name the band like the pastries donuts, but he wrote the name the wrong way by mistake. The other band members liked the name, because they found their philosophy in the name (donots = do nothing, like slackers), so they retained the name. Very rarely the band calls themselves "Ibbtown Rockers" because of their provenance. Wie wunderschön es doch ist, wenn erstmal gar nichts muss. Wenn aber eigentlich alles kann. Wenn man als Punkrock-Band wie ITCHY auf keiner Trendwelle surfen muss, um dann irgendwann im Hype zu ersaufen. Wenn man niemals dem Zeitgeist nachjagt aus Angst, plötzlich von gestern zu sein. Wenn man auf einmal merkt, wie saugut man wirklich aussieht mit aufgeschürften Ellenbogen, durchgelaufenen Hosen, blutverkrusteten Lippen und einem Lächeln, in dem mehrere Zähne fehlen.

Und wenn man wie Sibbi, Panzer und Max eben nicht mehr den Dreck aus den Klamotten klopft, weil man sich nach 15 Jahren Bandgeschichte, über 900 Shows in 20 Ländern und auf dem mittlerweile 7. Studioalbum »All We Know« einfach locker machen darf.

Gereist wird ab sofort mit dem absoluten Wissen um die eigenen Stärken - und ganz ohne Sperrgepäck. Nach den ersten anderthalb Dekaden, dem letzten Album 2015 auf Platz 5 der Deutschen Albumcharts OHNE große TV Show und dicke Hose, sowie einer längeren Verschnaufpause hat das Trio aus Eislingen an der Fils im Jahr 2017 den alten Bandnamen ITCHY POOPZKID auf das saloppe und schon seit Jahren gebräuchliche Fan-Kürzel ITCHY reduziert, kümmert sich derweil aber schon längst um viel wichtigere Dinge:

Textlich wie musikalisch geht’s auf »All We Know« deutlich tiefer, facettenreicher und - da ist das schlimme Wort! - erwachsener zur Sache. Wenn man überhaupt sein musikalisches Coming of Age als alte Hasen der Punkrock-Szene haben kann, dann doch bitte so.

Persönliche Kinnhaken und auch sozialkritische Seitenhiebe gibt es in Singles wie ‘Nothing‘ oder ‘Fall Apart‘ wie geschnitten Tofu, aber dieses Mal bei aller Kante eben irgendwie lässiger. Cooler. Tänzelnd. »All We Know« hat an all den richtigen Stellen eine gehörige Portion Groove, positive Power und Singalong-Hits und kann gleichwohl Melancholie und Nachdenklichkeit, ohne dabei verbittert zu wirken. Anders gesprochen: Bei aller Energie nehmen ITCHY dieses Mal nicht unbedingt den kürzesten Weg, um mit dem Kopf durch die Wand zu rennen, damit die Sonne von außen rein scheint. Müssen sie auch gar nicht: Mit der 3. Single ‘The Sea‘ hat man den Sommer kurzerhand selbst mitgebracht für all die Festivals, die da draußen auf die verlässliche Live-Bank ITCHY und ihre neuen Songs warten.

Mit Arising Empire/Nuclear Blast haben die Jungs übrigens nach drei DIY-Veröffentlichungen über ihre eigene Plattenfirma Findaway Records nun eine neue Labelheimat gefunden, die nicht besser zum Arbeitsethos der Band passen könnte.

Aber lassen wir dazu die Jungs doch kurz bei einem entspannten Getränk selbst zu Wort ko-… Hoppla, da sind sie auch schon wieder auf der Bühne. Verdammte Arbeitstiere! Gut so!

Mit diesem Ziel gründen fünf Jungs, die auf der Suche nach mehr sind, als nur der Idylle der heimischen Lüneburger Heide, eine Band – Drei Meter Feldweg soll sie heißen – ein Name, der wirklich keine hohen Erwartungen schürt und eine maßlose Untertreibung, wie sich schnell herausstellt. Denn seit diesem schicksalhaften Tag ist viel passiert: Die Band hat sich in den letzten Jahren mit Chartplatzierungen, ausverkauften Tourneen und Shows auf den größten Festivals des Landes einen festen Namen in der Musiklandschaft erarbeitet.

Drei Meter Feldweg sind Meister in der Kunst, Themen, die auf den ersten Blick gegensätzlich erscheinen, zu vereinen und zu so einem stimmigen Gesamtbild zu verschmelzen, das neugierig macht und nach mehr schreit:

Sie machen sich laut gegen rechts und singen in leisen Tönen von der Liebe, sie wünschen sich Sommer, Bier und Festivals, nachdem sie von Weltuntergangsstimmung, Fremdenhass und Verlustängsten erzählt haben. Auf der Bühne liefern sie sich untereinander hitzige Wortgefechte und liegen sich nach dem nächsten Song wieder lachend in den Armen, sorgen für ein ausgewachsenes Moshpit gleich nach einem kitschigen Handy-Lichtermeer. Sie spielen im kleinsten Club hinter der nächsten Milchkanne und gleich danach auf den größten Festivalbühnen. Selbst der Musikstil ist nicht immer ganz klar: Geht es um kantigen Punk oder doch um glatt gebügelten Pop-Rock, um Ska oder um Elektrobeats?

Was sicher ist: Drei Meter Feldweg garantieren einen musikalischen Exzess mit ansteckender guter Laune. Sie reißen mit ihrer intensiven Liveshow das Publikum sofort mit, wenn es um die kleinen und großen Sorgen des Lebens geht oder darum, eben diese einfach mal hinter sich zu lassen. Und wenn es nur für ein paar Stunden ist.

The story behind this band reads a bit like a good, yet-to-be-made coming-of-age film: midway through the pandemic, Polly, Murphy, Mika and Joe join up and start a band as part of a school project.
