  Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley found himself instantly intrigued with the song idea of his new single “Woman Amen,” during a co-write with songwriters Josh Kear and Ross Copperman. The result is one of Bentley’s most personal songs that also taps into a universal feeling of love and gratitude for those who walk through life beside us. There was also something entirely captivating about performing this past summer at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Surrounded by his musical heroes, deep in the box canyon of the Colorado mountain town, the course was set for the creative process of Bentley’s ninth studio album, THE MOUNTAIN (Capitol Records Nashville), which will be released in early 2018. New music quickly follows as its debut single “Woman Amen” gives a taste of the record's "themes of questing and self-actualization across a wide-open terrain of arid deserts and rugged ridgelines, cactus flowers and tumbleweeds," (NPR). The writing process came together quickly when Bentley returned to Telluride a short time later for a retreat with fellow Nashville songwriters.   Way out on the Western plains, you can see storms make their way across the horizon. Lightning strikes brighten darkened masses of fearsome clouds as they roll on down the line. They sway and swirl giving the promise of rain. They thunder and clap with threats of hail or worse.Kaitlin Butts is a thunderstorm. A tornado warning. The siren wail of a small town’s caution system still in use. Behind her flowing locks of auburn hair, Oklahoma twang, and wry grin, grows a demanding voice and equally devastating storyteller. This high-rising Oklahoma native is steadily blooming into a quick-witted writer who has the ability to pick the right details to make a song and story believable and real.She shifts between infectious Cosmic Cowgirl flare with lush desert-swept pastels, desired & heartfelt tearjerkers, and hard-bitten & calloused murder ballads. Through them all, she’s exhibits a knack for character and a nose for narrative. They come in like a summer shower patting down the dust. Other times, Butts is torrential downpour wreaking havoc.

  Mountain Grass Unit

  Mountain Grass Unit consists of three Birmingham pickers, Drury Anderson (mandolin and vocals), Luke Black (acoustic guitar and banjo), and Sam Wilson (upright bass). Mountain Grass Unit has played music festivals, private functions and multiple music venues, playing bluegrass tunes and adding a bluegrass touch to country, jazz, funk, rock, and even metal. With the addition of Luke Black and Sam Wilson on harmonies, Mountain Grass Unit has established the firm foundation to take on not only the vocal harmonies of traditional bluegrass tunes, but also the freedom to adapt songs from various genres to an all-acoustic format. Aside from their original songs, all three are equally comfortable restyling a Tony Rice number, a classic Grateful Dead tune, or covering contemporary acoustic masters like Billy Strings. The youthful exuberance and energy they bring to the stage is always remarkable. Their competency at what they do was best described by Birmingham music promoter Steve Masterson when the boys performed at his Acoustic Café festival: “They don’t just play good for their age, they play good.
