The Ukulele Death Squad ist eine 6 bis 8-köpfige, energiegeladene Folk-Band mit Tarantino-Einflüssen aus Adelaide, Australien. Ihre unkonventionelle Herangehensweise an die Ukulele hat seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2017 ein weltweites Publikum begeistert. Ihr Debüt in Adelaide und auf dem Edinburgh Fringe wurden als bester Music Act des Adelaide Fringe (2018) ausgezeichnet.
Ihre eklektische Musik nimmt Anleihen bei verschiedenen Genres: Flamenco, Ska, Folk, Jazz, Pop und Rock – mit einer gehörigen Portion schwarzen Humors. Sie kombinieren „Hardcore“-Ukulele mit satten Gesangsharmonien, stampfenden Rhythmen, unverschämten Soli und sinnlichem Saxophon.
Die Live-Shows der Gruppe aus Adelaide sind so rau, dass sie nicht nur nur Saiten, sondern auch Ukulelen zerschmettern. Mit einer Punk-Rock-Attitüde und ernsthaftem Auftreten geht The Ukulele Death Squad auf eine lang erwartete Postpandemie Tour durch Australien und Europa im Jahr 2023 mit neuen Mitgliedern, neuer Musik und der gleichen Art von Chaos, die ihnen den Beifall der Kritiker eingebracht hat.

In a world where there are at least two ukulele orchestras, this slimmer seven-piece extravaganza from the Australian badlands declare themselves to be the planets "most dangerous ukulele band." Their name more then hints the level of menace and peril contained within. Luckily for you their largely armed with several examples of the miniature, titular instrument along with their epic vocal performance, pulsing conga led rhythms and of course their big bold brass battalion ready for combat. The death squad wield their instrument's like master marksmen, hitting their target every time using their arsenal of gypsy jazz, Rnb and folk. There is a strong sense of showmanship, theatricality and raucous energy in their live shows that has gained international recognition and critical acclaim in The Adelaide & Edinburgh Fringe, WoMAD (Adelaide), WoMAD (UK), Boomtown (UK), Dranouter Festival (Belgium) to name only a few.
