Caroline Kingsbury
Caroline Kingsbury is a rising force in indie pop, crafting bold, technicolor anthems that celebrate queer identity and radical self-expression. With her theatrical visuals, soaring vocals, and unapologetically maximalist sound, Kingsbury is reshaping pop into something far more expansive—and inclusive.
Her electric festival debut at Lollapalooza introduced audiences to the world of Shock Treatment, her upcoming EP due September 26. Inspired by the 1981 cult film of the same name, the record blends 80s synths, neon-drenched fantasy, and sharp cultural critique. In Kingsbury’s vision, queerness isn’t an outlier—it’s the norm. Shock Treatment imagines a flipped reality where heteronormativity is the exception and queer identity is exalted.
It’s a concept rooted in personal truth. Raised in a conservative Florida town, Kingsbury channels her journey toward liberation into her music. “Leaning into my ‘crazy,’ theatrical self helped me find peace,” she says. “This EP is about owning who you are—loudly.”
Following a recent tour with Pom Pom Squad, Kingsbury continues to build a vibrant space for queer visibility in indie music. With Shock Treatment, she isn’t just making pop—she’s using it to light the path forward.
If her Lollapalooza set was the spark, Shock Treatment is the wildfire. And Caroline Kingsbury? She’s not waiting for pop’s future—she’s creating it.
