Šaknys Culture: Lisbon.

Šaknys means "roots" in Lithuanian - one of the oldest living Indo-European languages. Roots that first grew in the secret forests of the Baltics, drawing people around music, art, and a feeling that's hard to name but impossible to forget.

Underground sound. Open minds. Bright energy. And now, those roots are crossing oceans.

On Saturday, 26 September, we land in Lisbon for the first time - a daytime villa party at Quinta Mira Rio, Caparica, perched above the water with the historic city's rooftops on the horizon.

From 14:00 to 23:00, the sound is in the hands of four of the scene's sharpest - names that speak for themselves:

A rising superstar in the electronic world, TSHA makes music built on bright, melodic house foundations, bringing in UK garage and rave sensibilities, and has been widely tipped by the dance music press — appearing on the covers of Mixmag and DJ Mag — as well as the likes of the Observer, Billboard and Interview mag.

TSHA’s music has earned well over 180 million streams, earning her accolades such as becoming a DC-10 resident, delivering a BBC Essential Mix, nominations for the MOBO’s (Best Dance Act) and Grammys’ (her writing work on Diplo track “Let You Go”), and a recent collaboration with Ellie Goulding and Gregory Porter. Her acclaimed debut album, 2022’s ‘Capricorn Sun’, was celebrated as Album of the Year by DJ Mag and BBC R1 Dance.

New album 'Sad Girl' taps into her teenage years, with strokes of ‘00s R&B, rude electro and anthemic techno, recalling the bittersweetness and angst of early adulthood— came out September 27th on Ninja Tune.
