Tribal Sound Journey is the solo project of Adelaide Hills multi-instrumentalist Matt Benjamin, bringing together didgeridoo, handpan, world percussion, voice and live looping to create an evolving fusion of ancient rhythms and modern sound.

Matt has developed a unique approach to live performance, using multiple instruments and looping to build his music in real time. The result moves effortlessly between spacious, meditative soundscapes and deep, driving rhythms, with layers of percussion, earthy didgeridoo, hypnotic handpan and pulsing bass creating an increasingly immersive experience.

Drawing on world music, tribal rhythms and electronic influences, Tribal Sound Journey is as much about movement as it is about listening. Quiet, atmospheric passages gradually give way to high-energy grooves designed to get people out of their heads and onto the dance floor.

Following a sold-out debut Adelaide Fringe season in 2025, Tribal Sound Journey returned to Fringe in 2026 with a new show, continuing to build a reputation for creating a genuinely immersive live experience where ancient instruments, modern technology and spontaneous performance meet.
