As part of Stroud’s 200th anniversary celebrations, Back to Stroud Day is a celebration of the people, stories, traditions and connections that have shaped Stroud over 200 years and beyond.
For those with a connection to Stroud, it’s a chance to come home, reconnect with old friends, revisit familiar places and share memories of days gone by.
But you don’t need to have a Stroud story of your own to be part of the day. Back to Stroud Day is also a great family day out, with a full program of entertainment, activities and experiences celebrating both Stroud’s past and its vibrant community today.
Come along to the Stroud Showground and enjoy:-
historic displays
bullock wagon / heavy horse demonstrations and rides

and plenty of opportunities to discover the stories behind this remarkable little town.
There’ll be something for all ages, whether you’re reminiscing about Stroud as you remember it or discovering it for the very first time.
Take a walk through the Heritage Lounge, see the history, meet the people who make Stroud special, enjoy the atmosphere. Then stay for an evening of live music as we bring the celebrations to a spectacular close with The Bushwackers taking to the stage.
After 55 years on the road, The Bushwackers remain as musical and energetic as ever, bringing their Australian classics to heart-pounding life with fiddles, guitars, bass, drums and the mighty lagerphone of Dobe Newton beating out the rhythms. The Bushwackers are simply the classic Australian band. Their music is an eclectic mix of Australian folk songs reimagined in true Bushwackers style; foot-stomping Irish-inspired instrumental pieces and original songs, such as the iconic ‘I Am Australian’, co-written by Dobe, and many other original songs that have become favourite Bushwackers classics.
The Bushwackers have won three Golden Guitar Awards, created 25 studio albums (with a new one on the way), four books of songs, stories and tunes, and have been inducted into the Australasian Country Music Roll of Renown (2021). They have performed packed-out shows at all the great festivals around Australia, bringing their unique Australian sound and spirit to any festival stage as Australia’s best-known, best-loved Australiana band.
