Tautumeitas are a 6-member ethno-pop group that blend the traditional with the contemporary, transforming Latvia’s folk heritage into an electrifying experience for listeners.The band have become a huge force in the Latvian music scene, gaining widespread recognition for their unique sound. Their latest album, Skrejceļš, was celebrated with a 17-date tour and performances at Glastonbury (United Kingdom), Eurosonic (Netherlands), Rudolstadt (Germany) and Festival Du Bout du Monde (France).
Their live shows are immersive experiences; with a background in ethnomusicology, the band channel the energy of ancestral chants while weaving traditional Latvian folklore into their performances.
In Latvian culture, a ‘tautumeita’ represents beauty, feminine power and cultural pride; qualities that perfectly embody the spirit of the band, made up of Asnate Rancāne (vocals, violin), Aurēlija Rancāne (vocals, drums), Laura Līcīte (vocals, violin), Gabriēla Zvaigznīte (vocals), Annemarija Moiseja (vocals, melodica, percussion) and Kate Slišāne (vocals, mandolin, clarinet).
