From Cape Town to Lüneburg and out into the world: Sanele Sydow channels biographical and musical influences into his signature sound as if through a prism. Who taught him that? Himself. The singer, songwriter and producer likes to keep control of his creative process – and in doing so, reinvents himself time and again. His first two albums, “Backin Toronto” and “Blessings In Disguise” (2018), were quickly followed by singles and EPs, as well as sold-out gigs in renowned clubs and on idyllic beaches. No wonder: laid-back summer vibes and vocals tinged with a certain longing blend with shimmering, spine-tingling melodies in tracks like “Show Me Love” (2025), which are both deeply emotional and undeniably danceable. Last year saw the release of “Yebo” (2025), his most polished release to date. The globetrotter promptly racked up hundreds of millions of streams and, just in time for the start of summer in the southern hemisphere, became one of the most-played acts, whether at festivals, on car radios or in beach cafés. WizTheMc mixes physical Afrobeat and house, pop appeal and an ecstatic atmosphere into a cocktail with a guaranteed feel-good factor.
