  • Sons of the East
    Sons of the East

Sons Of The East — Jack Rollins (vocals, guitar), Nic Johnston (vocals, keys) and Dan Wallage (guitar, banjo) — originally hail from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, but their unmistakable sound has carried them to every corner of the globe. Blending folk, blues, soul, and classic country, their music channels the raw vulnerability of Townes Van Zandt and Gram Parsons, combined with the soaring harmonies of Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Avett Brothers. Known for their deft songwriting and a palpable sense of joy that runs through every note, they’ve built a career on both timeless recordings and legendary live shows — the kind that leave audiences singing along.

Their rise has been nothing short of remarkable — with over 700 million streams, 75 million YouTube views, and more than 100,000 headline tickets sold — all achieved completely independently. In the two years since releasing their debut album Palomar Parade (now nearing 100 million streams), Sons Of The East have played sold-out shows across the globe, from London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire to The Troubadour in LA, Music Hall of Williamsburg in New York, and Sala Apolo in Barcelona. With SONS, they keep that momentum going, capturing the intimacy and euphoria that have become their signature.

Josh.

Just look at Samuel Bach if you want to see – and hear – what can happen when kids are banned from screen time. He was 14 when his parents pulled the plug on him spending endless hours on his phone. He ended up sitting in his room with a pen and paper. What now? The answer was obvious: write songs. He soon lost himself in his creative fervour and wrote his first material of signature value with ‘Dreams & Prophecies’ (2021) and ‘Weil du’s bist’ (2022). In 2022 alone, the autodidact released no fewer than 13 singles that was devoured by a steadily growing fan base. Ultimately, however, it was songs such as the laid-back romantic ‘Rosaroter Tee’ and the modestly poetic ‘In der Zeit verlieren’, some of which he recorded with producer Alfonso, that earned him a stream count running into the tens of millions. This alone earned him a place on Amazon Music and DIFFUS’s ‘Artists To Watch’ list, even if this is probably just the beginning. In September, bac will take us through his already prolific repertoire of witty but unpretentious songs that span rap, pop and indie.

    lovehead
Although they are less than one year old, lovehead are already turning heads among fans and feature pages across Germany. The trio from Burgenland in Austria consists of Anna, Elena, and Mara. The three musicians first met via Instagram in 2021 – and in true style, they simply formed a band straight away. Unbiasedness and positive vibes were therefore written into the band’s artistic DNA right from the start. After all, where there is an artistic will, there is also an artistic way, especially in these times. Their first single, ‘denkst du an mich?’, went viral immediately with six-figure streaming numbers, and its powerful and melodic indie rock sound is reminiscent of the heyday of the early bands from the Hamburg school: lo-fi sound design, quirky lyrics, lively hooks with singalong qualities – what more could you want? All those lucky people who have already seen lovehead live can confirm as much: This trio is well-rehearsed, has a defined groove, and is ready for a sweaty evening at the Reeperbahn.
