Moonscales is an immersive audio-visual installation by sound artist Jason Singh, consisting of eight spatialised soundscapes set around a suspended replica of the moon, utilising our 360 d&b Soundscape system.

Representing the eight lunar cycles of the moon, each soundscape has been created using bio data from a ring of Ash trees (now deceased due to Ash dieback disease), field recordings of wildlife, aquatic environments, vocal textures, analogue and digital effects and processing.

The immersive experience aims to share a holistic awareness of the climate crisis through compositions derived from living organisms. And to explore the life cycles of human movement, nature transformation and change, through contemplation and deep listening.

Jason’s life and work is rooted in listening. His creative output is an exploration of the natural world, voice and a wide range of music technologies. Works includes live performance, immersive installations, studio recordings, music for film and theatre, deep listening and well being experiences, sound walks, broadcasts, music workshops, podcasts, soundtapes and immersive DJ sets.

“Jason gave the perfect performance to illustrate what I always want to say about Art: it’s about making things that create feelings in people, important feelings that they might otherwise forget about.” Brian Eno
